About our Studio

Terrain is landscape.

Terrain is grounded on the belief that good design weaves a compelling story of humanity and nature into the fabric of each place it creates. In addition, it recognizes the threads of culture, environment, and society that give each site its context.

Terrain is regenerative.

At Terrain, we believe that designers must act as agents of change toward a sustainable landscape ideology. We must inform, build, and promote a collective effort towards beautiful, resilient, and eco-literate landscapes. Thinking green begins with understanding a site's environmental conditions and recognizing opportunities for systems that promote ecology and sustainability. Then, these systems, opportunities, and constraints coalesce into a design that balances nature, culture, and economics.

Terrain is community.

At Terrain, we are the individuals that make up our studio, the communities we live in, and the families that make up their fabric. Therefore, our approach originates from the human perspective. We work with communities, families, and individuals to create equitable, socially-just landscape compositions.
